Worship
Prayer & Liturgy is an important aspect of Religious Education. Each day the children take part in prayer & liturgy, whether it is in small groups in class, in year groups, or as a whole school. It is an ideal opportunity to celebrate. Celebrations are an essential part of life for people of every age and faith. Prayer and liturgy consist of varying elements such as gathering and greeting, listening, reflecting, responding through community praise, especially in song, prayer and of course the children’s own work and ideas and go forth.
At St Ignatius' Catholic Primary we have whole school mass to celebrate the new academic year, as well as termly masses throughout the year (Advent, Lent & Leavers) and other mass such as some feast days. We also join with our other school's in the MECMAT Trust annually for our feast day in June and services or masses throughout the year with our Christ the Kind cluster eg Lenten service, relic visits, Ladyewell pilgrimages.
Worship Leaders
We are very proud of our worship leaders, as they have listened well in their training and then lead prayer and liturgy with confidence throughout the school. Some of our children are now helping other classes to become worship leaders by giving them the confidence and sharing what they have been taught.
Minister of the Word Leaders
In July Fr Etienne commissioned four Minister of the Word Leaders. These children have worked with Steve D'Arcy, our foundation governor, for 6 weeks, to teach them how to proclaim the Word of God. Well done to all involved.
